Last night at HK

I'm using the Japanese interface of Blogger.com, because my company's proxy routes through Japan. It never used to be like this and I can't switch it back to English. Urgh. Luckily I know the console well, otherwise I'll be so lost!

I normally blog during office hours, mainly because blogspot refuses to work at home. Although I'm able to retrieve the URL and start fiddling with the controls, it doesn't allow me to post. Everytime I hit on the "Publish" button, nothing loads and my entry doesn't get published. How frustrating.

I came back from HK last Thursday afternoon and am still feeling rather tired from the trip. Anyway, here are some pictures I took during my short stay:

I had so little time to explore HK. However, we did have dinner at Causeway Bay on the second night, so during our (my colleague and I) quick ten minutes power walk down the street to Times Square just to get some Krispy Kremes, I managed to snap a few pictures and because I was in such a haste to take pictures, some of them appear washed out and blur too. Damn! =(

The weekday crowd in HK

My colleague and I were so desperate to get Krispy Kremes that we decided to head down to Times Square while waiting for our main course to be served. We rushed through the crowd and believe me, walking briskly in 3-inch boots was a real torture. My colleague remarked, "Ha. Amazing Race Asia." I replied, "Yeah. Detour: Head to Times Square and purchase 2 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts to qualify for the next round."

After our successful attempt of obtaining 2 dozen donuts, we took a stroll back to restaurant, only to find out that the Japs had eaten our main course, just in case it had turned cold. We bumped into the HK and AU manager who were about to make their way to Mongkok. Just to set my priorities right, I told the rest that I wanted to head to Mongkok, and that we'll quickly have our main course and leave right away.

We gobbled our udon and took a cab down to Mongkok to catch up with the two managers.

Sad to say, this was my one and only chance of exploring HK beyond my hotel and office route. However, I did manage to get a souvenir magnet, a very practical and useful ashtray for Bunny, a super tacky lighter with Mahjong characters, dice and lights, and a uber big street sign that says "Causeway Bay" on one side and "Wan Zai" on the other. Kekeke. I love buying tacky stuff when I'm overseas. Well, I did promise Bunny I'll get her super cheena souvenirs from my Shanghai trip, but didn't manage to do so. So this is to make up for it!

What a pity. I didn't manage to explore other places in HK. Shall do so in July! Ha!

It's always great to be home though, to the fucking hot and sunny Singapore.

Day 1 in HK

The flight to HK was bad. The plane flew around in circles for 45 minutes before heading towards the airport and just as it was making its way there, we experienced turbulence for at least 20 minutes. By the time we touched down, my colleague and I were feeling queasy for the next 4 hours or so. Urgh.

We took the train to HK island and rushed straight to the office. Had such a hard time making our way there, first of all, I was in heels (boots). Second, it was raining. And it has been raining the whole damn day that I can't even take a single shot of HK. I can't really be bothered anyway.

Now I know why Bunny feels that HK is home. To me, it feels like a bigger Singapore and plus we do not face a language barrier here, so it's all cool. I guess HK is alright, as opposed to Shanghai. Urgh. So sua ku. I've actually never been to HK before. It's not one of my travel destinations anyway.

Wanted to head to Mongkok after dinner, but it started to rain, AGAIN! So we decided to head back to the hotel and call it a night. They might bring me around tomorrow, provided the rain holds.

Thank goodness the night ended early and I have more time to talk to Bunny and catch up on how our day went. Another day and night away from hot and sunny Singapore. It still feels good to be in Singapore, despite everything.

Grace’s filming debut

Thanks to Moo for helping out with my project. So far, she’s the best candidate for this job and after viewing the auditions of the other girls; I must say that Moo has the best presentation skills, and the looks to go with it too. It was a unanimous vote from many others as well, so I didn’t have to play a part to promote her anyway. Ha!

Moo had so much fun, despite how tiring the session was. She makes such a good presenter, I hope she gets scouted by someone and get more jobs!

A short and fun-filled weekend

Having spent our last long weekend of 5 days resting and playing tennis, the (short) weekend that just passed seemed packed full of activities.

On Friday night, Bunny and I went to watch the controversial play named 251, on Annabel Chong’s life from student to pornstar to web designer. The setting of the stage was different from what we had expected. Instead of having the audience facing the stage, the audience was placed in a way where we were all facing one another with the stage in the middle. It didn’t matter where you sat, because you would be able to see the actor’s expressions and everything they did in detail.

We enjoyed the play immensely and I personally liked how the director took the opportunity to display homosexual connotations, tagged along with political and feminist themes, into this play. I’m assuming that plenty of people who watched the play might not be able to grasp the important essence of telling Annabel’s tale – of how her unconformity landed her as (Singapore) society’s outcast, of how a woman is almost always bounded by the chains of passivity and subdued desires and also of how estranged we all are from who we really are and what we really want to do. The whole play centred around one topic – the double standard that denies women to exhibit the same sexuality as men.

Anyway, after the play we had a quick bite at Ichiban and headed towards The Clinic for the Party Junkie party.

This group always had great girl parties, mainly because they organized them at different venues, it was always free entry, the crowd was different from other parties and the music wasn’t R&B.

The following two days were spent playing tennis – first at Thomson and then on Sunday, Bunny went to display her athletic prowess at the tennis tournament organized by Adlus.

I’m sure she had so much fun there, playing doubles with the other gay boys and soaking in the bright sun rays. I was the official water and towel girl that day. It was so bloody hot I was hyperventilating when I played for a short while, so I decided to plant my ass in the shade.
