On Carrie Chau and Summer's 5th Birthday...

Bunny and I haven't gone on a date for awhile, so instead of heading to the gym last Friday, we went for dinner at Sakae Sushi and caught a movie - Masz na imie Justine (Your Name is Justine).

This movie is not for the faint of heart, although
Irreversible was much harder to watch without cringing every single second. It's really difficult to watch an innocent girl, betrayed, beaten, raped and forced to prostitute herself.

I'm in love with a new artist!

While making our way to the cinema, we stumbled upon a shop at The Cathay called Forest Trees that carried works from Carrie Chau, and coincidentally, the co-owner of the store was Bunny's friend!

I browsed through the postcards that were available for sale and bought these two:

Happy Princess (2005)

What's the matter with you? (2004)

And here are some of her other works:

AT17

Ghost Mushroom

The Plane is Taking Off

Playground Lover 2

Material Girl

My Piggy Bank

She has such an extensive collection and it's difficult to find her other works online. Forest Trees have a wide collection of matchboxes, cushions, postcards, and other paraphernalia which we didn't have time to explore properly.

After the disturbing movie, we settled at Ben and Jerry's for two scoops of ice-cream and headed home. It was raining by the time we stepped out of The Cathay and we agreed that it was a typical setting for a date: dinner, movie, ice-cream and then walking under the rain. So cheesy that we started laughing at ourselves.

It was Summer's 5th birthday on Sunday and we ordered a vanilla chocolate cake for her from US Dog Bakery:

Just like last year, we made a party hat for her.

Anticipating...

"Let me taste the cream first."

Summer started lapping up the whipped cream first and then gobbled up the cake until her stomach area looked bloated. Luckily she deflated back to her normal size after she had digested the cake. They even gave half of the cake to the schnauzer upstairs named Ronnie.
