Wimbledon Finals 2008 - Nadal vs Federer

And the King of Clay has finally won on grass! What an exciting match it was - nerve-wrecking, adrenaline pumping and slightly disappointing in certain sets, especially the 4th, which Nadal could have capitalised on, but didn't.

World No. 1 and No. 2

Nonetheless, we're almighty glad that Nadal had finally won his first Wimbledon championship AND French Open championship consecutively. This must be the most exciting and memorable Wimbledon finals which many people will talk about for a long, long time to come.

6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-7 (8-10), 9-7 over 4 hours and 48 mins (excluding two rain delays). What an epic battle, a clashing of the Titans indeed. It sure as hell didn't look like tennis when they played against each other. It's almost as if they transformed Centre Court into a battlefield and tennis was played on a whole new level altogether, one which no one else will be able to achieve in the near future. Well, they are World No. 1 and 2 for a reason.

My favourite leftie has a few quirks of his own:

"Nadal is a superstitious soul who likes to walk on court second, who likes to sit closest to the Royal Box to be nearer his support team and who hates to have his routine disturbed. So Federer ushered him on court first (“No, no, after you, Raf…”) and marched purposefully towards Nadal’s favourite seat."

"Ah, the bottles. The bottles that drive some players mad. It is a ritual, to give Nadal the benefit of the doubt, that is often missed by the TV cameras at the change of end, but which maddens plenty of opponents. He must have two bottles courtside, and for every game he must line up the bottles so the labels face the baseline of the end he is playing."

"The socks have to be no longer than 15cm up his shins and must always be at the same height. And the sponsor's logo must be parallel to the ground."

Hahahahaha! Oh, not to mention his habit of digging his wedgie all the time. I've always known that there was something quirky about lefties.

I for one, will never forget the finals in 2008 where Nadal finally triumphed over Federer on grass, ruining his dream of six Wimbledon victories in a row. Go, fellow leftie! We're rooting for you foreberrrrrr!!!
